Fellow (Chief Engineer)

Reports to: VP of Engineering

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday 8:30am-5:00pm)

SUMMARY

Working from our office in Uxbridge, Ontario and reporting to the VP of Engineering, the Fellow (Chief Engineer) will be an active member of the Engineering team. The candidate will perform detailed digital designs of embedded real time processors and FPGAs. They will be involved in performing and leading all life cycle stages of FPGA design: selecting the target FPGA device, generating and synthesizing the FPGA HDL, generating the verification Test Bench components, simulating the FPGA target code with the test bench components to verify the design, and integrating the FPGA on the target CCA.

Some of the key tasks they will perform are: circuit analysis, simulation, design documentation, design verification testing, breadboard construction, hardware/software systems integration for complex systems.

The candidate will be responsible for new product development, using the customer’s specifications and requirements and executing technical tasks to assist in the design, development and manufacture of video graphic boards used in complex sea, land and aerospace applications.

This position is not a management role. It is however a role that will include mentorship of Senior Engineers, Engineers and Technologists.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

The following ARE required:

  • 10+ years of practical (hands on) engineering experience designing video graphic boards, integrating or debugging hardware with digital content.
  • Must be a Electronics Engineer, who has a high amount of experience working with 6G, 12G, SERDES interfaces and beyond.
  • Must have current broadcast video environment experience.
  • Must be able to write modular, reusable code, and add to existing, structured, in-house IP library.
  • Expert in Verilog, Systems Verilog and VHDL, including simulation, test benches and verification techniques.
  • Expert in Xilinx Series 7 or Ultrascale design and development using Vivado.
  • Expert design experience with high speed interfaces such as PCI Express Gen3, 3G-SDI, DisplayPort, GigE or 10GigE LAN.
  • Expert with any of the following video standards: 4Kp60 video, HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.3, SMPTE-424M, SMPTE-424M, DVI, Analog Video (NTSC/PAL), MPEG 2, H.264, H.265, JPEG 2000 encoding, Composite Video Encoding and BT-656.
  • Experience with embedded software / microprocessors.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Technical writing is well structured, effective in purpose, free of grammatical errors and succinct.
  • Experience with the use and application of digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, function generators, in an ESD protected lab environment.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications, Visio, PCB Layout Software, and a high-level of general PC knowledge.
  • Experience in Linux/Unix environments, including shell scripting.
  • Experience in revision control systems such as SVN, GIT and a high degree of proper disciplined coding practice.
  • Experience with Built-in Test and design for reliability within FPGA.
  • A “can-do” attitude with a desire to be a team player.

The following are NOT required, but would be considered an asset:

  • Knowledge of de-rating guidelines to improve reliability for harsh environments (ROME Reliability Engineer’s Toolkit).
  • Experience with DO254, DO178, and DO164.
  • Experience with Cadence, Orcad and Solidworks.
  • Experience with the use of Gerber Viewer, Computer Aided Design (CAD).
  • Experience with NVIDIA, AMD, CUDA or OpenCL.
  • To be considered for this role, you must state the code name of NVIDIA’s latest generation graphics processors in your cover letter (hint: The previous generation was Maxwell 2).

Senior Engineer, Software

What we need to see:

    Manager, Quality Engineering

    Reports to: CTO, Greg Maynard

    SUMMARY

    Working from our office in Uxbridge, Ontario and reporting to the CTO, the Manager, Quality Engineering will lead the quality department and manage our QMS System and SMT line. The candidate will be responsible for advance product quality planning, and work with cross-functional teams on the development of new and existing video graphic or GPU processing boards, to meet critical customer deadlines.

    The key tasks the candidate will perform are:

    • Oversee, manage and audit ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.
    • Spearhead and manage the process updates and implementation of WOLF's QMS to AS9100D.
    • Implement and manage new SMT Line.
    • Lead, define and project manage process updates and implementation.
    • Review, assess and provide recommendations to improve existing operations, production and design processes, and continuous improvement metrics.
    • Lead internal quality audits of production, design engineering projects and workflows to ensure compliance to agreed-to specifications.
    • Provide periodic quality standards training to employees as appropriate.
    • Provide management regular metrics-based reports on quality delivery, gaps, and improvement recommendations.
    • Participate in customer discussions and planning as it relates to quality management, planning, monitoring, reporting and execution.
    • Provide guidance and assistance for component incoming quality inspections and control.
    • Liaise between customers, Q/A, engineering, manufacturing and suppliers.
    • Implement new procedures and processes in prototype stages, product launches, and production deliveries in compliance with specific military and aerospace requirements.
    • Coordinate with production, program management and engineering to conduct product FMEA analysis.
    • Evaluate quality issues utilizing appropriate root cause analysis.
    • Maintain a high level of confidentiality while managing customer sensitive documents and data that drives process and product changes.
    • Perform statistical studies, report data and communicate with sales, design, engineering, testing, and production floor for customer problem resolution.
    • Coordinate, manage and audit all manufacturing programs including cost, design, timing, test, and production to the highest quality standards to meet customer needs.
    • Participate in continuous improvement projects.
    • Responsible for developing a QMS.
