Sales Engineer

Reports to: Craig McLaren, CEO

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday 8:30am-5:00pm)

SUMMARY

Reporting to the CEO, the Sales Engineer will work as part of a Sales Team that serves customers by identifying their needs; engineering adaptations of products, equipment, and services.

The role is to partner with customers, sales representatives, VAR’s and internal sales teams to understand the customer’s technical requirements, develop a solution that uses WOLF products, gain technical closure for the customer and thus drive sales revenue to meet goals. The Sales Engineer, through direct participation supports all global sales initiatives which require technical input.

Someone who has a desire to work for a smaller company (less then 50 employees) that is fast paced, doesn't have the "red tape"/restrictions that medium/large corporations have, and allows the opportunity for team members to have a voice. RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Identifies current and future customer service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons able to understand service requirements.
  • Provides pre-sales technical support to prospective customers.
  • Creates detailed proposals and written documentation.
  • Provides product, service, or equipment technical and engineering information by answering questions and requests.
  • Establishes new accounts and services accounts by identifying potential customers; planning and organizing sales call schedule.
  • Prepares cost estimates by studying BOMS, plans, and related customer documents; consulting with engineers, and other professional and technical personnel.
  • Submits orders by conferring with technical support staff; costing engineering changes.
  • Reviews Purchase Orders and provides verification against quotes and customers requirements.
  • Provides technical information and training to customers, VAR’s and Reps.
  • Designs and provides on site and virtual sales presentations/demo support to existing and potential new customers, to showcase WOLF’s products, technology and capabilities.
  • Complies with legal requirements/legislation regarding ITAR, CGP, ISO 9001-2015, and AS9100 requirements.
  • Contributes to CRM and forecast by completed necessary pipeline, data entry and lead management.
  • Evaluate alternatives, cost implications and design creative solutions based on customer requirements.
  • Consults directly with existing and potential new customers (high-level technical people) in all phases of the sales and account management life cycle.
  • Prepares sales engineering reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing sales information and engineering and application trends.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Attends trade shows and conferences as a representative of WOLF, to promote products and establish new business relationships.
  • Contributes to sales engineering effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing directives.
  • Evaluate customer’s current technical capabilities and conduct needs assessment, including platforms, hardware, operating systems, and more.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Additional administrative duties may be required.

EDUCATION/SKILLS

Problem solving, written and verbal communications skills, product knowledge, selling to customer needs, software/hardware requirements, product development, professional presentation skills, general programming skills, and technical understanding.

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree or equivalent experience considered an asset.
  • Related technical sales experience and knowledge of: computer programming architecture, video graphics modules, SBC’s, VERILOG HDL, system interfaces, and computer hardware integration.
  • Any level of CUDA experience considered highly valuable.
  • Strong consultative selling skills and strong experience supporting technology sales.
  • Experience writing business and technical proposals for ROM’s and RFQ’s.
  • Strong lateral thinking / out-of-the box thinking skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills required.
  • Project management experience desired.
  • Excellent research, problem solving and analytical skills are required.
  • The ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
  • The ability to undertake any or additional responsibilities as defined by his/her manager.

Electronics Technologist / Electronics Engineer

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Production, the Electronics Technologist/ Electronics Engineers will work as part of the production team; work with the latest electronics / processing modules, debug, test and verify, provide technical support, assist design team developing interesting and innovative solutions, conduct characterization, monitoring and maintenance of tools, all following the industry's best practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assemble, flash firmware/software and prepare prototype, pre-production and production grade electronics products for test.
  • Conduct electronics, assembly, software and firmware product conformance verification according to established procedures and best practice.
  • Record anomalies and deviations in the quality management system / engineering systems.
  • Assist in root cause analysis for open customer support or other items as assigned.
  • Propose corrective actions for resolutions to manufacturing and quality problems due to processes or equipment.
  • Conduct hand soldering (SMT, cleaning, application/removal of conformal coating, and other processes as assigned).
  • Participate in production and/or project meetings; offering feedback and guidance WOLF can use to improve its processes and technology offerings.
  • Assist in generating engineering and production documentation.
  • Conduct test procedures, problem reports, and giving client feedback.
  • Maintain and protect corporate IP, systems, tools, data and customer proprietary information.
  • Consistently follows and complies with defined processes and workflows.
  • Acts as a promoter of WOLF’s processes by suggesting productive enhancements and changes to workflow(s) as appropriate to help streamline work activities.
  • Provides design feedback changes (ECO) into an issue tracking system.
  • Contributes design suggestions and ideas into the design process.
  • Demonstrates competency in the use of lab tools and debug / analysis instruments.
  • Applies logical thought and debug approach in trouble-shooting and circuit analysis.
  • Provides problem reporting feedback (EPRs) on feature regressions into WOLF’s issues tracking system.
  • Executes design validation test plan (DVTP) capturing qualitative results into the corporate Project Tracking system.
  • Executes product validation test plans (PVTP) capturing qualitative results into the corporate project tracking system.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

The following ARE required:

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Technical writing is well structured, effective in purpose, free of grammatical errors and succinct.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications, Gerber Viewer, Computer Aided Design (CAD), PCB Layout Software, and a high-level of general PC knowledge.
  • Experience with soldering equipment, fine pitch / nano assembly, 0402 or 0201 component size.
  • Experience with mechanical assembly.
  • Excellent knowledge of surface mount, thru-hole assembly and manual soldering processes, including component preparation, and selective soldering.
  • A “can-do” attitude with a desire to be a team player.

The following are NOT required, but would be considered an asset:

  • Design experience with high speed interfaces such as PCI Express Gen3, 3G-SDI, DisplayPort, GigE or 10GigE LAN.
  • Experience working with any of the following video standards: SMPTE-292M, SMPTE-424M, DisplayPort 1.2 and greater, HDMI 2.0 and greater, DVI, Analog video (NTSC/PAL), MPEG 2, H.264, H.265.
  • Broadcast Video environment experience.
  • Experience with HDL/FPGA programming.
  • Experience with embedded software / microprocessors.
  • Experience creating test applications / scripted environments.
  • Experience with the use and application of digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, function generators.
  • Capable of resolving operating system, application and driver related problems.
  • Knowledge of Linux operating systems.
  • Familiarity with design software (Cadence, Solidworks, Vivado) an asset
  • Experience flashing firmware and diagnosing FPGA functional issues.
  • Experience with SAP Business one or other logistics software.
  • Experience with electronics inspection.
  • Experience with NVIDIA, AMD, CUDA or OpenCL.
  • To be considered for this role, you must state the code name of NVIDIA’s latest generation graphics processors in your cover letter (hint: The previous generation was Maxwell 2).

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS

  • Electronics Technologist Diploma or Bachelor of Engineering
  • CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or CQT (Certified Quality Technician) is an asset
  • IPC Certification highly desired
