NORTH AMERICA – WOLF Advanced Technology’s VPX6U-QUADRO-M5000M boards include single or dual high-performance GPU processors in a rugged, reliable product. Each GPU includes 8GB of GDDR5 memory with NVIDIA GPUDirect™ DMA and can drive up to four video display outputs. The board can also be used as a CUDA compute engine providing high data throughput for computations that benefit from advanced parallel processing.
The VPX6U-QUADRO-M5000M board uses NVIDIA’s latest Maxwell-2 28nm GPU technology. Each GPU provides 2995 GFLOPS single precision (32-bit), 8GB GDDR5 video memory with a theoretical maximum memory bandwidth of 160 GB/s, ECC memory support allowing for error correction on the DRAM, and 1536 NVIDIA CUDA cores. The board supports the GPUDirect API which allows devices to write directly into the Quadro’s memory, reducing latency, system power and bottlenecks from the system.
The board can be used for H.264 (AVC) and H.265 (HEVC) encoding and decoding. The GPUs contain dedicated encoding hardware for video encoding, called NVENC, that is independent from the graphics engine. When using NVENC hardware for encoding the GPU graphics engine is free to perform other tasks. The NVENC accelerator encodes video at higher speeds and power efficiency than CUDA-based or CPU-based encoders at equivalent quality.
For each GPU included in the VPX6U-QUADRO-M5000M the board can be configured to drive up to four simultaneous video outputs. The standard output connectors available per GPU include 2 DisplayPort connectors and 1 RGBHV (VGA) connector on the rear panel, and 2 mini DisplayPort connectors on the front panel. Optional custom output configurations are also available.

The VPX6U-QUADRO-M5000M is an ancillary processor board designed to be installed into a VPX system with a VPX-REDI (ANSI/VITA 48.x) in a VPX (ANSI/VITA 46.x) or OpenVPX (ANSI/VITA 65) configuration. The board implements PCIe x16 and can support specialized 6U VPX systems designed to provide the full x16 connection. It also implements PCIe Gen 3, which for a x16 has a data throughput of 15.76 GB/s per direction, almost twice the 8 GB/s data throughput of PCIe 2.0.

This board is designed to operate in rugged environments and has been manufactured to MIL-STD-810 standards including 20g 11ms shock, 0.1g²/Hz @ 5 - 2000Hz vibration, -40 to +71°C, and can be conduction or air-cooled. Due to the critical importance of size, weight, and power (SWaP) in aerospace and defense applications, each compact, ruggedized VPX6U-QUADRO-M5000M video processing board includes a utility and API allowing the maximum power to be controlled in order to maximize GPU capability while minimizing power usage. Depending on the processing requirements the power can be tuned from 55W to 225W.
