Dual HD-SDI Capture with 650 GFLOPs Tegra-K1 CUDA Processing

NORTH AMERICA – WOLF Advanced Technology announces a revolution in aerospace and defense image capture and processing. Leveraging two of NVIDIA’s latest technology 28nm Tegra-K1 APUs each packed with five ARM cores, 8GB Low-Power LPDDR3 memory, 325 GFLOPs CUDA processing tunable as low as 10 Watts, WOLF’s Dual HD SDI FGX/Tegra-K1 Frame Grabber eXtreme 3U VPX board allows complete control of two simultaneous captured frame grabber data streams for complex analysis and processing independent of the host Intel or PowerPC SBC.

“The extremely low power and inherent user programmable features of a five-core CUDA ARM with 325 GigaFLOPs performance introduces a paradigm shift for rugged aerospace and defense customers, enabling the ability to pre-process one HD-SDI video input per module,” says WOLF CEO Craig McLaren.

This board is designed as an ancillary processor board to be installed into a VITA 46.0 VPX system. The VPX3U-DUAL-FGX-TK1 has two HD-SDI video capture channels – SMPTE292M – each capable of being encoded as H.264 transport streams or for GPU processing and displaying as HD SDI or HDMI.

This 3U VPX board incorporates two independent NVIDIA Tegra-K1 ARM processors each connected directly to a WOLF embedded Frame Grabber eXtreme (FGX) FPGA natively using the Tegra-K1’s internal PCI Express lanes. A separate PCIe bridge connects each Tegra-K1 to an Intel or PowerPC host SBC, allowing completely independent parallel computing.

The VPX3U-DUAL FGX TK1 thrives in rugged environments performing precision intensive operations, such as image processing, video stabilization, filtering, terrain analytics, 3D visualization of geospatial data, object recognition and tracking. This board is designed and manufactured to MIL-STD-810 standards including 40g shock, 0.2g²/Hz @ 5 - 2000Hz vibration and 40 to +85°C conduction or air-cooled.
